Trying to switch my Apple Pay default card but the steps feel confusing. Looking for real, simple guidance from people who’ve actually done it.

So I’ve been trying to figure out something that should be simple… but for some reason it feels like I’m going in circles. I’m talking about how to change the Apple Pay default card.
I added a new card recently, and I want that one to be the default. But every time I open Wallet, I’m not totally sure what I’m supposed to tap. Some people say you just drag the card to the front, others say you need to go deep into settings, and honestly it’s making me overthink something that should take… what? Ten seconds?
The weird part is, Apple makes everything else so clean and obvious, but this one little thing feels hidden. Maybe I’m blind, maybe I’m missing a tiny button, I don’t know.
So I figured I’d just ask real people who’ve done it without losing their patience:
Where exactly do you tap to change the default card?
Is it done from the Wallet app or from Settings?
Do you need to remove the old card first, or can you just switch it?
Does the “drag to front” trick actually work?
Why does the default card sometimes not update in apps?
I’m honestly trying to avoid messing anything up because I use Apple Pay a lot, and I don’t want the wrong card being charged when I’m not paying attention.
