When I received my first American Express card, I was confused about the American Express CVV. Unlike Visa or Mastercard, which have a 3-digit CVV on the back, the Amex CVV—also known as the CID (Card Identification Number)—is a 4-digit code printed on the front of the card, just above the main card number.
At first, I kept entering the 3 digits from the back while making an online payment, and it didn’t work.
